Lakewood Ranch, FL February 4, 2020 - Camp Comeback volunteers, including Patti Katter from Lakewood Ranch, FL have pledged to try help USMC veteran Vladik Zalevskiy turn his dream of owning a deep sea fishing boat a reality by raising the funds needed to purchase the boat, which will be used to support other veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Camp Comeback Sets $150,000 Target

Camp Comeback has announced an initial fundraising target of $150,000, which will be used to purchase and donate a Sportsman 2020 282TE to Zalevskiy in order to start the fishing tours business for other veterans.

The plans follow successful four-day boating trips organized by Zalevskiy, who took a small groups of veterans out in Marathon Key after Camp Comeback had rented boats on his behalf. The benefits experienced by both Zalevskiy and the military veterans have propelled Camp Comeback’s desire to new levels. While the $150,000 fundraising target is large, Katter hopes that backing from businesses will allow them to reach it within months.

Having received a mortgage free home from non-profit organization Building Homes for Heroes back in October 2014, following her husband’s injuries sustained while serving in Iraq. Katter is driven by a desire to give something back, especially after Zalevskiy has previously been let down by a business man who made big promises to Zalevskiy.

Katter said: “I’ve seen so many people [and] organizations say they’re going to do something for a veteran, and they don’t follow through. I felt like it was the right thing to do. If it were my husband, I would hope someone would come in and do the right thing. To furnish a boat, it’s going to help countless veterans.”

Camp Comeback has already gained support from Erickson Marine Corp in Sarasota, The Fran Haasch Law Group in Tampa Bay, and The West Coast Florida Riders in Florida. Meanwhile, Sportsman has already enabled the non-profit organization to secure a discounted price on the purchase of the Sportsman 2020 282TE once the funds have been raised.

Helping PTSD Sufferers Through Calm Moments On The Water

Camp Comeback is supporting the deep water fishing excursions thanks to their extensive list of therapeutic benefits including enhanced social interaction, reduced stress and anxiety, relaxation, improved sleep, and improved outlooks on life. Zalevskiy stated: “I have always had a talent and love for fishing, ever since I was a little boy. My dream is to own my own boat one day, so that I am able to take other veterans like myself out fishing, and so I can enter fishing tournaments to reach and serve more veterans. Helping them also helps me.”

Camp Comeback helps veterans in America build on their military experience and realize their full potential, enabling them to make their comebacks. Supporting Zalevskiy’s initiative will indirectly change hundreds of lives for the better.
