Mindfulness Training Recommended to Reduce Stress and Anxiety in the Workplace

Sydney-based Mindfulness Space recommends corporate mindfulness training as a way to reduce stress and anxiety that affects a large percentage of Australian workplaces.

Sydney, Australia - February 14, 2018 /PressCable/ —

Anxiety is the most common mental health condition in Australia with 1 in 4 Australians experiencing some form of stress and/or anxiety at some point. Mindfulness training as offered by Mindfulness Space is a proven method to reduce the symptoms of workplace stress and anxiety.

While stress and worry are common responses to situations where one may feel emotional pressure, it usually passes once the stressful situation has been resolved, or ‘stressor’ has been removed.

For mild symptoms of anxiety, lifestyle changes, such as regular physical exercise and reducing one’s stress levels may help. For levels of anxiety that begin to impact on one’s life, psychological and/or mindfulness interventions may be beneficial.

Mindfulness Space offers mindfulness training workshops in Sydney for workplaces, community groups, sport clubs and schools.

Mindfulness refers to the mental process that can be characterised by a state of nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment experience, including one’s physical sensations, thoughts, awareness, while encouraging openness, curiosity, and acceptance.

The basic premise underlying mindfulness practices is that experiencing the present moment nonjudgmentally and openly can effectively counter the effects of stressors because excessive orientation toward the past or future when dealing with stressors can be related to feelings of anxiety.

A review of 47 clinical trials involving more than 3,500 participants with mild anxiety found that those who underwent mindfulness training workshops experienced improvement in their mood after eight weeks, on par with the effect seen with prescription medications.

“By teaching people to respond to stressful situations more reflectively rather than reflexively, mindfulness practices can effectively counter experiential avoidance strategies, which are often attempts to alter the intensity or frequency of unwanted internal experiences,” said Paul Jozsef, principal mindfulness trainer at Mindfulness Space.

Through the application of mindfulness practices for mental health conditions such as anxiety, Jozsef claims that his clients are more resilient and better able to navigate the daily ups and downs of everyday life.

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — Mathilde Gremaud concedes she does not remember her head slamming onto the slopestyle course during training, or much of anything that happened in the aftermath. Those may sound like telltale signs of someone reeling from concussion symptoms. But the team doctor who checked her out didn't discover any. And less than 36 hours after the wreck, Gremaud was not only competing, but winning a silver medal, as well. "I actually don't remember anything," Gremaud said Saturday, when asked to recall the accident that could've ended her Olympics early. The Swiss skier's story offers a window into...

It comes after host Christian Fauria impersonated Don Yee on air last Friday. Yee is of Chinese descent but was born in Sacramento, California. 'LOVE' returns: Philadelphia park gets its sculpture back

Feb 18, 2018

PHILADELPHIA — "LOVE" returned to Philadelphia on Tuesday, just in time for Valentine's Day. The famous 1976 Robert Indiana sculpture was brought back to its namesake downtown park on a flatbed truck after making a number of stops at parks and statues along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway before the reinstallation. School children cheered and those gathered spontaneously sang the fight song for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles as a forklift placed the sculpture atop a pedestal. Susan Murphy had the day off from work and came to the park to see the sculpture reinstalled. She played the Beatles "All...

PHILADELPHIA — JJ Redick wasn't buying any of it. Midway through the fourth quarter of the Philadelphia 76ers' 112-98 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, Joel Embiid had an ugly fall and took a seat at the end of the bench. "I think me and about 20,000 people held our breaths for the entire time," guard T.J. McConnell said. Redick was breathing just fine. "Joe is very dramatic," Redick said. "I've played with a lot of good actors in my career, and he's definitely in the top three. He could have a future in Hollywood if he wanted...
